Record Apple iPhone Sales

IPhone

Apple Inc. sets the bar with over 1.7 million phones sold by June 29th just 3 days after its original release date.  The iPhone 4 is in such demand, Apple can’t keep up.  In a recent statement Chief Executive Steve Jobs apologized to “customers who were turned away” because the company did not have enough supplies of the iPhone 4.

AT&T executives are thrilled by the great success, with AT&T being the second largest cell phone provider, but on the brink of losing the iPhone to their top competitor “Verizon”.  With the New launch, this means many hundreds of thousands of people will commit to another two year deal with AT&T.  Due to the successful launch AT&T’s stock rose 1.5 percent.

During the iPhone 4 launch, there were over 600,000 pre-orders that were recorded and took precedence over all the people standing in line waiting to purchase their iPhone4 at the Apple store.   A poll was taken outside one of the Apple stores to see the reason people were so gun ho over the new iPhone.  In the poll, the results were that people were more incline to purchase the iPhone 4 because it was 25 percent thinner than any other iPhone, and that it had a dual camera.

Shoppers on Ebay were trying to get their hands on the iPhone 4, but the majority of the bids were for $1,000 for 16 GB models when you can purchase one for $199 at an Apple or AT&T store near you with a 2 year contact.  Wait 3 weeks, do not pay more money than the actual going rate for the iPhone 4 no matter how bad you want your hands on the device.

There were several West coast Apple stores that had a shortage of phones by as early as Monday morning.  Apple stores across the country were telling their customers that Apple advises them that no iPhone 4’s will be available for purchase for weeks.  The employees are telling the customers to sign up on the waiting lists at the store or go to the Apple website and order your phone online.

The demand is going to be hard for Apple to keep up with, but I believe that their record breaking sales will allow the slick devices to be made and produced with ease.  Apple is predicting to sell over 10 million iPhones in the current quarter which is going to be ending after September of this year.
