3D Televisions New Technology for 2010

Televisions

The term three dimensional has been around since the late 1800’s and realistically we have viewed three dimensional films in American theaters since 1950.  In the late 1980’s, IMAX and Disney’s three dimensional films were available for the average family to experience without putting a hole in their pockets.  However, with 3D televisions, families are going to pay a pretty penny to posses one in their home.

To get your hands on a 3D TV, you will have to pay between $3,000 on the low end and upwards to $20,000 on the higher end.  The price is assumed to go down just as everything does and as newer technology hits the shelves.  With movie presentations, such as Avatar which released in April of this year, thousands want to be a part of the 3D experience.  The film takes you to a different place, to an amazing adventure that makes you feel that you are actually a part of.

This television is unique and captures multi dimensions of a character in a motion picture.  Most of the TV’s that are available for purchase can operate under the 3D mode or its regular 2D mode making original shows and entertainment come to life.  Even though, you have to wear the LCD three dimensional glasses to get the entire effect, it is much cheaper than paying high end prices for a 3D television which doesn’t require any glasses.

Like all 3D glasses, the screen tells the LCD glasses which eye to view the image for that specific moment and creates a stereoscopic image as you are viewing the film or show.  Most of the TV’s available for purchase are compatible for the HDMI 1.4 input and output with 120 Hz and believe it or not, when you purchase the television, you also have to pay for the LCD glasses.  They do not include them with the televisions, nothing comes free these days.

There has been a slow transition with consumers going from 2D to 3D due to the economic crisis and fewer networks will be broadcasting shows for you to view.  In June, the World Cup Championship broadcasted in 3D, but there has not been much support since then.  Until the economy returns to what it once was, manufacturers and networks are not going to actively promote 3D televisions.

As the demand increases, more channels will available in 3D, but for right now, you are going to be mainly watching movies on your three dimensional television.
