We have all seen it by now, spreading through the internet like a wild fire in a heavily dense wooded area. The Old Spice advertisements on YouTube are definitely producing views but yet sales continue to drop, how could that be? One theory is that the majority of viewers the ads appeal to are women. I personally agree the last thing a straight man wants to see is a buff man in a towel holding body soap. Surely, this would have been obvious to the producers and screen writers.
I do give them props for their creativeness, but I think the ads are targeting the wrong audience. Therefore, sales are still declining. The response that has been received and the interactions that Isaiah has made have been extraordinary, early this month he helped a man propose to his wife via Twitter and a video. He has published many micro videos for Red zone Old Spice products and has received tremendous attention. Isaiah Mustafa has truly become a superstar overnight thanks to the internet.
Another question, is the Old Spice brand too “old” to resuscitate? The company has been around for a long time and people may just be tired of the same original products, at least they all seem very similar. Regardless what happens with Old Spice’s sales, the videos are creative and many people have enjoyed watching them. Old Spice should consider throwing a beautiful woman in a towel and then sales might start to increase. Regardless, Old Spice has been around for a long time, and I would like to see the company flourish in the future. I would love to hear your opinion, why do you think sales continue to drop?
