RIM is Anxious to Release the New Supposable “iPhone Killer” Next Tuesday

RIM is to announce the launch of the slider 9800 handset at a joint BlackBerry-AT&T Inc event in New York next Tuesday morning.

The timing is important said Mike Thornton from Avian Securities. With school about to start and Apples latest flaw with the iPhone reception, it only seems now would be the most lucrative season to launch the new Slider 9800.

RIM’s Share of the North American market has been modest due to the popular Apple iPhone and Verizon’s Droid X. RIM hopes the new Slider will get them back into the race and be more competitive with the above mentioned cellular phones. It is said that AT&T will have exclusive rights to promote and sell the new smartphone.

If I remember correctly RIM had a supposable “iPhone Killer” Not too long ago called Storm, it didn’t do, as well as they had hoped. All we can do is wait to see how the new phone fairs in a market that is currently being dominated by Apple and Google.
