Companies Divided Over Net-Neutrality

Google

The Apocalypse of the internet as we know it or will large corporate websites stand against the new Google proposal to keep the internet a level, “Open” playing field? That is the popular question. Facebook and many other large corporations have already expressed their opinions against Google and Verizon’s selfish plan to ultimately create an internet where people pay tolls to have their content seen before the average Joe’s content.

The debate revolves around net-neutrality, which allows users of the internet to see open content and not have to be dictated to by large corporations. If this proposal passes it would be similar to the cable network. Who ever can afford to purchase a spot on the network would be seen. Forget the thousands of other mom and pop websites or your personal blog. It’s all about what makes the “fat cat” more money. Large companies should not be able to give priority to certain content, case closed!

Allen S. Hammond quoted: “All of our life goes through this network, increasingly, and if you can’t reach your boss or get to your remotely stored work, or it’s so slow that you can’t get it done before you give up and you go to bed, that’s a problem,” said Allen S. Hammond IV, director of the Broadband Institute of California at Santa Clara University School of Law. “People need to understand that’s what we’re debating here.”

The Google, Verizon proposal was just the frame work to get this plan started. There have already been huge up roars around lobbyist and negative reactions across the web. Ultimately the decision to grant this request will come from the legislator and FCC. The people can still make a stand and let their opinions be heard…Like I stated in the last post. “People are heard in numbers”. Let’s continue to support the large websites that are against the Proposal, big thanks go to Facebook! What’s your opinion on this whole ordeal? Can you believe in a time of economic uncertainty that these colossal corporations would suggest such a thing? Instead of trying to help aid the economy their priority is to hit us why we’re down and take advantage of the situation.
