Mashable
Pete Cashmore has taken his passion and created a successful blogging empire. I personally have been inspired by Mr.Cashmore’s work ethic and the way he has handled becoming an internet success. From what I have witnessed and read, he truly is a stand up guy. Just to give you a little insight, Pete Cashmore, was born September 18, 1985. Pete started Mashable in 2005 sometimes working 15 hours a day writing and promoting his blog. It is said that Pete wrote up to seven articles daily showing true dedication. After about a year he was offered $3,000.00 a month for a company to advertise on Mashable. Since then he has only expanded and broadened his reach and network.
What is so great about Mashable? What I personally enjoy about Mashable, is the opportunity to read tech and social media news without extreme tech Jargon. For the most part, the articles are short and to the point. The content writers are knowledgeable, provide humor and quality. You also often find great “How to guides” that help people who aren’t so inclined to social networking or the internet. The layout flows nicely, and content and tools are easily accessible. (Yes my designer incorporated some aspects of their layout structure into LambsLife) When it comes to breaking news pertaining to social media, Mashable is usually leading edge.
Pete is usually lurking on similar social media sites reading comments that readers leave pertaining to Mashable. He accepts constructive criticism and often seeks advice from his viewers, so he can better cater to his hoards of followers. I personally know it’s impossible to impress all, but he shows a good effort and cares what people think. The fame and fortune have not made him forget who he is and where he came from, like it does for many. You can follow Pete via Mashable.com or his Twitter profile. Here is a short video of Pete explaining a bit more about Mashable and the sites future:
Huffington Post
The Huffington Post is a liberal American news website featuring content of many arrays. There is everything from tech to entertainment and of course political talk. You will find both unique news and aggregated news from popular, relevant sources around the web. The Huffington Post has mass followers often receiving over one million comments a month. The Huffington Post also known as Huff Po was founded by Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lerer, and Jonah Peretti, on May 9th 2005.
It seems like 2005 was a good year to create a blog. What the HuffPo brings to the web which is different than other social networking sites are their unique columnists and writing. From comedy to business, this website brings everything in between and offers some of the best genuine content found on the internet. Their original thought for the website was to produce a page somewhat like the Drudge Report and have their writers produce their own outlook on conservative news.
However, their political category has made millions comment on their personal legislative point of views. Politics is a huge part of our nature and with all the recent television campaigns, voting should be a top priority and if you were not planning on voting, think again. Your vote really does matter.
Beyond that, the HuffPo is a site that I visit daily to keep up on current news events and prevalent information. I happily follow both mentioned blogs above and if you are looking for accurate reliable content to wake up to, I would highly recommend you visit their sites and bookmark them. Oh, and don’t forget to bookmark LambsLife.com and follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Thanks and happy reading.
