What not to do when applying for a job!

Home

If you are unemployed and haven’t found work yet, you might be doing something wrong. Job hunters are looking for the very best in these tough times, so your resume needs to be up to par. What I mean by this statement is your resume could either make you or break you. Your resume is an interviewer’s first impression of you, so it has to be just perfect.

With all the head hunters available at your finger tips, you might want to consult someone regarding your resume, when it comes to the grammar and detail. Your resume should be customized for the specific job that you are interested in. So, you might end up having several resumes. It is important that you focus on what you can bring to the job based on what qualities they are looking for. You want the employer to like what you have to bring to the table and contribute within the company.

Even though you may be applying for numerous positions, you will need to create a different resume for each. Don’t worry, you can save your most recent resume and edit the information as needed. This might sound like a lot of work, but it will pay off when you get a job. Putting in the extra effort is worth the extra time. After you have printed your resume, make sure you take the time to read everything thoroughly. Keep yourself familiar with everything that you have put down on paper. In your interview, you may be quizzed, so it is imperative that you are honest with your answers and they match what is on your resume.

One thing that you may think will not be taken into too much consideration when deciding who to hire, is a person’s accomplishments, but you are wrong. Employers want to see all of your accomplishments / certifications. This can give an employer a good idea on your skills as well as your achievements and again what you may be able to bring to their company. Take this serious and do not feel that an employer may think you are an over achiever or over qualified.
